Exclusively for the Class of 2026 high school graduates from Corning Union High School District, California (CUHSD)

The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians is dedicated to advancing the region’s long-term prosperity by expanding opportunities for local youth to pursue higher education and strengthening the local economy by supporting student enrollment at Butte College, Shasta College, California State University-Chico, and Simpson University.

The Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation, a philanthropic initiative of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, is honored to support the continued growth and success of our region by awarding a one-time scholarship of $5,000 to a degree-seeking, full-time student who plans to attend a neighboring college. The funds will be awarded to a CUHSD Class of 2026 graduate with academic promise, financial need, and who has committed to making a meaningful impact within the region. This funding helps reduce education-related expenses, allowing students to concentrate on their academic and career development with increased financial security.    

Eligibility Criteria: 

To be considered for the Paskenta Nomlaki CUHSD Scholarship, applicants must meet all the following: 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale 
  • Student Aid Index on the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application is at or below 7,000
  • CUHSD high school students graduating with the Class of 2026 
  • Enroll full-time in Butte College, Shasta College, Chico State University or Simpson University in the 2026-2027 school year

Application Requirements:

  • Evidence of academic achievement 
    • High School transcript (special attention given to grades and courses from the junior and senior year)
  • Student Aid Index (SAI) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application 
  • Evidence of acceptance into Butte College, Chico State University, Simpson University or Shasta College as a full-time, degree-seeking student 
  • Name of two recommenders (include names and email address in the initial application). Only the recommenders of the semi-finalists will be contacted to submit a letter of recommendation
  • Statement on educational aspirations and long-term career objectives in the field of interest and commitment to making an impact within the region

Ineligible for this scholarship:

  • Individuals who are enrolled members of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. The Paskenta Nomlaki enrolled members are encouraged to utilize the Tribe's education program.
  • Student not graduating from a Corning Union High School District school during the 2025-26 school year

Deadline to Apply: April 15, 2026 (PST 11:59 PM PST)

Communication with applicants will be conducted primarily via email. Applicants are advised not to use a school email address because access to school email accounts may be limited after graduation. Applicants are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their email address, monitoring their application, confirming receipt of messages, and encouraging recommenders to respond by the deadline. Please note that emails may be routed to spam or junk folders.

If selected for the scholarship award, the recipient agrees to provide a professional photograph of themselves. The photo may be used by the Paskenta Nomlaki Foundation and its partners for promotional purposes, including but not limited to announcements, newsletters, websites, and social media.

Scholarship recipient will receive notification by or on May 26, 2026
